Introduction

With many Pakistanis facing around 11 hours of power cuts a day, calls for building a hydroelectric dam at Kalabagh on River Indus are becoming stronger and more numerous. This blog explores the cases for and against the Kalabagh Dam to reject both for being flawed. Adopting a rule consequentialist and ecofeminist approach, I argue that the dam should not be built because it harms historically subordinated entities.

In the next three pages, I state my theoretical framework, explain the cases for and against the Kalabagh Dam, and present my argument. For background information on Pakistan and dam, please refer to the additional resources section.
